Obama's 'accommodation'

Putting aside for a moment the cosmic joke that has become the Obama administration generally, and the latest episode in the saga of his minions eviscerating the Constitution, don't you just love the use of the word "accommodation" to describe Obama's action today concerning birth control and freedom of religion?

Given the belligerent language that has been unleashed by this administration as well as some Catholics who couched the terms of the struggle against Obama on this issue as a street fight, one can't help but think of Don Vito Corleone in "The Godfather" meeting with the heads of the Five Families. Obama, as did hizzoner Rahm - has made no secret of the fact that he adores "The Godfather" series. Since he pretends to be so many things in his fraudulent life - a constitutional scholar, a committed legislator, an author, an orator, an executive - it is not such a leap to think that he fancies himself as the Don of the Chicago-based Obama crime family, attempting in this instance to ward off a political version of going to the mattresses by making an "accommodation" to his enemies. So far as it goes, though, the likes of Kathleen Sebelius and Jay Carney make for weak buttonmen.

Ted Kennedy used to get cheap laughs at the expense of Richard Nixon when portraying the latter as obsessed with the movie "Patton." Perhaps the same joke should be applied to Obama and his affinity for "The Godfather." However, thanks to the millions of fools in 2008 who could not see through this Chaucerian fraud, and thanks to the troubled psychodrama that must apparently be played out at the expense of our democratic republic, the joke remains on us
