How shameful

______________

For all the blood spilled to give Americans the greatest form of government the world has ever known and the right to elect individuals at every level of office, county, state or federal and people don't even bother to vote. I guess they would rather belly up to the bar and bitch about what a lousy job the new governor is doing or the city council, but they don't even participate.

Perhaps people will vote on the way home, but by then it's time to pick up the kids, stop at the grocery store, stop at the bar, accidents on the freeway, didn't make to the polls in time. Always some excuse.

Here in Big Spring with major constitutional amendments on the ballot and with weeks of early voting, a whopping 2% of voters, 413, have gotten to the court house to cast their vote. This is a small town, not like the major cities in Virginia and the beltway with monstrous traffic jams (which I have been in several times). You can drive anywhere in this town in 5-6 minutes.

There's simply no excuse. Constitutional amendments to the Texas State Constitution affect everyone. But, you can guarantee at lunchtime the hog swill joints will be packed.

No better on the left coast:

LIVE UPDATES: Early Turnout for Virginia Governor's Election: 'A Trickle

Like I said before: The Demorats make sure their people get to the polls:

UPDATE (11:12am EST) Alexandria Turnout Mixed. Mike Flynn: I voted in my precinct in Alexandria City around 9:30am. Just under 30% of the precinct had voted by then. My precinct generally has a higher turnout than the rest of the state. My precinct is overwhelmingly Democrat.

Well, one can hope for a better outcome by the time the polls close.
