Madison Haley of Illinois was named this year's Voice of Democracy audio-essay competition winner. Her essay on "Why I'm Optimistic About Our Nation's Future" earned her a $30,000 scholarship and an all-expense-paid trip to this week's VFW Legislative Conference in D.C.
